walnut hack for Stanley #7 to modify it for a dedicated Shooting plane
affixed with 2 brass 1/4 -20 machine screws ….think in going to put some checkering{like on a gun stock for grip} on the big grip surface
think that’s to cheezy?

Now THAT’S a great looking “non-hot dog” grip. It looks great and if you can crosscheck, all the better. Yes sir it’s gonna get copied right away.

Your handle seems a great improvement over the typical hotdog. Nice design and execution.
Cheers

What an interesting idea. I never thought of modifying a plane like that.

Don’t know how it feels, of course, but that is a cool handle. The only question I would have on the checkering is whether it would be an irritant to your hand depending on how you hold it. I like my plane handles really smooth to avoid that.

Sorry to be a newb, what is the hot dog handle? I really like this because with my huge paws it will give me a much better place to grab.

Did you drill and tap the 1/4 20 holes or use a nut on the inside?

Drilled and taped ,then cut to size so they tightened flush
