This piece was completed a few years ago. I used the pic for the postcard for a show I did in Wooster Ohio.
The wood is Florida Red Cedar with a formica base.I wish I had a picture of the piece when I started it. Not at all like you see it now. About 75 % of it was removed. The conical holes I put in it give it a life form. In one of the details you san see my name appearing within it. It is truly a mystical piece, dreamlike and whispy . It very much reminded me of the Shakespear classic. Most of my abstract work you will find is a product of the wood dictacting to me where to cut and shape. I have no idea of where i will go with the piece or how it will eventually turn out. About 90% into the work I usualy see the final outcome. At that point it is just smoothing and rounding, making sure the are no straight or flat areas. My mantra is the s-curve. I loved working this pice especially because of that great cedar aroma.

You are right – you need to take “before” pictures.
Just stunning!

The ability to reveal the art within the wood is the art.
I looked at your website and now I am a fan.
Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

Very “whispy” and dramatic.
