The spheres are made of Aromatic cedar, box elder, tasnanian pinkwood, buckeye burl, bacote’, lignum vitae, crabwood, mesquite, hickory, and pink Ivory. The base is cherry. I had to use a very very very large lathe.

Methinks someone’s been playing with the Photoshop. ;)

The turnings are sweet!

This is a great project that “turned” out well. And the picture is wonderful as well.

Those are fantastic. Did you turn them freehand or do you have a jig for spheres?

The lathe is not as impressive as the size of trees required to make spheres that size and the amount of strength you must have to lift those chuncks of wood into the lathe. ;-)

Sorry for the deception. You are right I used photoshop to alter the pic. It is not me in the picture but a profesional model. Here is the real image of me. http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/fashion/stylephile/brad_pitt.jpg

What an original presentation! Orbs in Wood. This could excite wood workers to become astrologers!

Muniart – you are much better looking than that guy in the link…

Turn slowly and use a big lathe?
