When I finished turning this comphor laurel 300 mm in diameter bowl, I found it very pale and simple. I decided to enhance it by pyrography to look like it is built of rocks. I put myself in an unexpected long and boring process. But I was very happy with the result as the simple bowl turned to be seriously beautiful. I stained the rocks one by one to out stand them and then, as last step, I sprayed it with clear paint.

Really like that Sam, you certainly created something beautiful with the rocks. May have been a boring process Sam but well worth the effort. Thanks for showing and maybe other might turn those simple bowls into something special. I’m off to the shed now.

Nicely done Sam. I too, have found that burning details in a carving is tedious but in the end rewarding. RH

Wat a great job on a very unique and beautiful bowl. Too much work thought!

I not only like it for the Rocky look Sam, but that bottom shot of the finished product, say’s Alligator Leather to me, This looks like a very unique and expensive piece of luggage to me. Just beautiful.

I delighted. Wonderfully…... Honestly, very much it was pleasant to me. I saw and at once went to the page, and then laughed. Huge work, BEAUTIFULLY. I adopted. Good luck….... It is a pity that I have no burner….. LOL….

Love this piece Sam, never let anyone tell you that patience isn’t necessary, it’s a virtue that leads to excellence as this shows.
