I built this music box for my wife. It is built around a beautiful 72 Note movement that plays Pachelbel’s Canon, which is the song she walked up the aisle to 28 years ago. The music box is built from some beautiful cherry my boss had laying around in our warehouse. He told me to take whatever I wanted for free.

I took him up on the offer!

My photography skills are somewhat lacking. The piece is not blotchy even though it looks like it in the pictures.

Very nicely done! I’m sure your wife love it.

That’s really nice! May I ask where you got hte 72 note movement? And, where’d you get the harp/lyre metal piece on the front?

Thanks! I’m still quite the novice, but I was happy with the result. It was good practice on miters. My table saw is severely lacking. It’s an old Delta contractor saw that is impossible to get to stay square to the track and fence. That’s next on my wish list.

I got the movement from Rockler. The piece on the front came with it. It stops the movement after each of the three movements. I didn’t put anything to start/stop it by opening/closing the lid; although someone with more skills could certainly do that.
