Just an idea for the Members here. How I made these = I bought one of the packets of templates that are sold for use when carving a pumpkin. Scanned the ones that I liked and enlarged the picture for the size I wanted. I bought a $10.00 program over the internet named ”Big Picture” to enlarge the picture to the proper size. I made a 2 1/2” box around the back of the pirate and a 5 1/2” back around the witch.
Then I painted them Flat Black and taped colored cellophane paper to the backside…added a light and done! The small indoor pirate was built with a night light and the holes in the top have been sealed off since this picture was taken.
The outdoor witch, needed more light so she has an ‘under the counter’ light. Both are hooked to an outlet that has an on/off switch for operation. I have received tons of nice comments on the outdoor witch from the parents bringing children for Trick-or-Treat. The possibilities are only limited by the templates you buy.
Pirate was built with 1/2 smooth interior plywood (not sure why I ever decided to make it a circle?) The outdoor witch is also made with 1/2 inch smooth exterior plywood. Pirate was cut out with a scroll saw and the witch was cut out with a jig saw.
