Just A quick update on what I have going on in my shop right now. This is an office unit (not completed as of now) that consists of a pretty typical wall unit and has a peninsula desk coming out from the center, which will allow a person to sit on either side of the desk. In the last few pics, you will see the cabinet that the peninsula desk top sits on. From this cabinet, the drawers can be pulled out from either side. The main unit also houses file drawers. All the drawer boxes are made of pre-finished maple ply, (I like to use the maple ply because it is very strong and very stable with changing weather conditions), with full extension drawer tracks (tracks are rated for 300lbs per pair) and also I have dovetailed the drawer boxes with my Porter Cable Omnijig 24. All the cabinetry is constructed of maple ply and /or solid maple stock. I milled all the moldings and raised panel drawer fronts and doors myself (I’m still working on the drawer fronts and doors). The color on the cabinets is a dye (acetone base) which is applied directly to the wood and then added to the finish later-on to tone the unit evenly (maple is very blotchy). I use pre-cat lacquer to top coat all the surfaces. The counter top that is seen in the pics is only a temp top. If I put the actual top on now, it would definitely get damaged. I should have this unit completed by the end of the week and I will post the pics after it is installed in the office.
Thanks for your interest, Bob

Nice job. Great to have the overhead room to make these large pieces. I just delivered a 9’ book case/ cabinet unit, for an office. It was made in two pieces, and the first time I put the two together was in the clients office.
I think we were all overwhelmed by how tall it was. Thanks for the post.
