My first cane

This cane is made up with six types of wood…the handle is mahogany the small band is Bass followed by Purple Heart, Maple, Red Heart and the rest of the shaft is Poplar.

An excellent cane! so many woods for your first one too… a very big undertaking i must say. Did you use any re-enforcement like steel rods on the inside? Good job.

Thanks for the comments, and Elin I used wood dowels through all the segments.
The picture was taken as a last minute thought before I gave it away to one of my in-laws. I placed it on the kitchen table shot a couple of pictures and ran out the door.

Vince, i have made many canes and they don’t last long before somebody grabs them! I still don’t have one for myself! Better keep your camera handy..they do disappear fast!
