This is a coffee table I built for a friend who teaches guitar lessons. Every one who sees it loves it. The table is red ouk and the inlay is maple. The inlay is of a full size Fender Strat.
If you looked at the post of the guitar inlay end table you can see the difference in the proportions. The neck on this one looks alot better.
I wish I had the time to build one of these for myself!!!

This was my third project I did with inlay. The guitar end table was the second try at it and since this one I did a drum table (going to post soon) and an end table with an inlay of some sandals (also going to post when I got some more time) This one was hard becuase I had so much room to clean out with the router and there are a few low spot in the inlay. Next time I do one so big I am going to make a jig that runs acorss the table and hold the router at a specific height.

Check out this cheap set up from one of our Lumberjocks.
There are many others if you just search router guides in LJs.

Dick that is a great jig. I was just thinking about having something like the top and just clamping it to the top and move it . I would need to make a really big version of the jig to do it with a coffee table but if I am going to make more than one again then I will defently thing about it!!!
