First Cherry Bowl I have turned and I like working with cherry. It is pretty easy to turn and very stable.

I remember when my daughter was learning to talk, she perfected the word “No” for about a month. Every word out of her mouth was “No”. Everything she said was no; it was amazing and incredibly annoying toward the end. But when she was done she knew what no meant and how to use it.

I am perfecting the word bowl on the lathe. With each bowl I turn is a learning experience, that I can’t wait to turn the next bowl to see what I have learned.

That’s really light coloured Cherry, nice bowl. Mine are darker, but I don’t remember if they turned darker over time.

Very nice.
Thanks for sharing.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Great looking bowl. What did you use for finish on it?

Thanks Capt.

Finished with Shellac to seal the pores and lacquer is the top coat.

Do a search on “popping the Figure in Cherry” for CB2. You’ve begun a journey that many people are interested in following. Very nice work.

Thanks Mark for the advice and encouragement. Found a good video from fine woodworking about popping the figure in cherry; very interesting and makes a lot of sense. Thanks Again!!
