I’ve been tooling around with the idea of combining concrete and wood and metal for some time, and recently deciding to go for it. First time around so I just used a 3 dollar bag of quickcrete to see how things went. I sort of like the chunky look, but will most likely mix my own in the future for a more uniform texture. But experiments are fun since theres no pressure on the outcome.

Built a form, dropped in the black ash, and steel bar, mixed, poured and set the legs.

Legs are wrought iron reclaimed gate posts. There is a stainless steel gate bar running the length inside for stability. The Black Ash wood I milled from a salvaged log I picked up when I was out in Lake Elsinore at a friend’s place for the summer.
