Yesterday after messaging Scotsman on lumberjocks I decided that it was time for me to try my hand at turning. I have avoided this do to my muscle spasms in my right hand (I’m right handed). But after finding out that Scotsman has mild Parkison which is what I have with spinal damage, I decide to go for it. My goal was to turn something into a tool not just firewood which is what Ryan P told me is what alot of people do during their first turn. So with some pride that I did it and it didn’t break plus I still have all my fingers. Heck I didn’t even get a scatch. So I am posting a photo. I gave this to my Father to use out in the Arizona desert to plant seeds..
Ok Ryan you can go ahead and laugh which is ok because I laughted at your first turns too…….:-} PS thanks for letting me use your lathe…......O-ya I forgot, I used cabot timber oil and dark oak oil on it to get the color.

Rog,
I am very impressed with this project. What a cool idea. Hope you don’t mind if I borrow your idea. I have alot of friends that are gardeners and this would make a great xmas gift. I found that woodturning is something that people with disablities can adapt to and still enjoy the craft. Although my hands and arms are misshaped I have been able to truly enjoy the fact I can actually turn something that’s pretty, useful and other people really love. Keep on turning!!!!
