Someone showed me a picture of one of these on the internet and asked if I could make one.So, I gave it a try and here are the results with slight modifications from the photo.
I used ¾” pine for the frame and letter boxes and ¼” MDF spray painted with black chalkboard paint for the backing. I finished the frame with a dark walnut stain. All materials purchased at local big box chain stores.
P.S. I used my Kreg jig for fastening the frame. All screws are hidden by the mdf on the back.
SIZE: 22”Hx15”W; the box holes inside dimensions are 3 1/2” square.
