Solid maple … the most trouble for me on this project was installing the hinges … so as posted in my first blog, I have been given some help re selecting and installing hinges.

Nice piece. I too consistently get my butt kicked by hinges. I think I am going to go wooden from now on.

Really nice table Carl and looks very well made. I especially like what you did with the legs.

Coincidentally my wife and I just bought two similar tables in birch. We are getting pretty old and so don’t entertain much anymore, so we thought it would be nice to have something easy to store out of the way and gain more space in the living room. I cut off the fixed legs enough to accommodate small casters so we can just roll them out when we have guests for dinner.

Thanks folks, this was made from a free plan in a local Quebec/French woodworkers magazine … all I did was use maple instead of oak … by the way, I learned that maple (sugar) is so hard that it has a propensity to chip easily in the planer … also, it is easy to break brass screws if you do not drill the proper size pilot holes … ;-(
