These came about for a yen for a decent looking scribe and a lathe. Both were made on my drill press. Bloodwood, ebony for the woods and ivory to accent them, 1/4 inch brass rod and 02 steel respectively. Glued up the stock, waited somewhat patiently for a day, drilled and oh so gently pushed the rods through leaving enough on the ends to go into the chuck and an old bearing and plate from a very old fan motor in the vise beneath to act as sort of live center. Several hours of sanding the wood to shape and then filing the rod to shape these are what I came up with. Not the safest method for turning by any means, but they serve their purpose very well. The brass one is my scribe and the 02 is my my screw starter. I now have a lathe and will post the project i made for SWMBO requested for letting me get the new toy. Thanks.

Very nice work and they should be a pleasure to use. Good luck with your turning (and scribing).

”Intimidated by the quality of work seen here.” Don’t be, we all come as we are and it looks like you came well dressed. Glad to have you on LJ’s. BTKS
