8×2 inches, with six rows of 3/8 inch rounded bumps, and rubber wheels to grip the floor while you roll your feet over it. Perfect to soothe your feet after a busy… well, any day.
I had, and quickly broke a bean bag style one of these at Christmas time. Good in theory, but poorly engineered. This one should hold together much better – being that wood is glued to wood, not canvas.
It was quite the challenge turning this down to size, and not knocking off the 30 odd rounded bumps I had to carve in as I went… ;)
actually, those are 3/8 inch rounded birch plugs I superglued in. (Gorilla, with rubber in it. I think it’ll do the trick – easy to fix if not.) Maybe I’ll make one with nails instead for in-home acupuncture.
The rubber wheels are some sort of sink gasket from the plumbing aisle. Had to find those first, as their diameter dictated the basic proportions of the project. I turned the whole thing as one piece, previously drilled in from the sides on center, countersinking for screw heads, then parted off the ends in the middle of where the wheel went using a thin kerfed pull saw. Put the rubber on, nice tight fit, no glue needed, screwed the sides on, and done. Didn’t pre-apply a finish so it wouldn’t interfere with gluing in the plugs (#8 countersink)... and come to think of it, this should only touch stocking feet, so there’ll be little wear at all.
Oh, and it feels good.

I saw that in your other pic and wondered what that was! Very neat projects you’re making up this go round.

I loved this Scott. Mostly the art part of it. I’ve always wanted to make a dimpled piece, but haven’t ever gotten around to it. Right on!

A rather novel device and nicely done.

I’m sure glad you said what this was, because if I’d had to guess, there’s no telling what I’d have come up with. :-)

I could use that right now!!
And you had me confused with the carving statement—I was sure they were little caps that you buy—and then you said you carved them—hahah.. I read it twice before moving on to the next sentence. Hook line and sinker!

I’d have to agree with Charlie, but I’ve used these before and they feel wonderful, nice one.
