I posted the gavel a while back and wanted to post the finished gavel and the block in which to strike with the gavel as suggested by my fellow LumberJocks. The finish is eight coats of shellac on the gavel and four on the block. I used my router and table to cut the decrative edging on the block. Thanks for your input and suggestions on this project.
These will be donated to the ToastMaster’s club at my work.

“I have a hammer…”
Lovely gavel, Mark. Looks like we both decided to post ‘hammers’ today.

the block was a good idea and it fits perfectly with the gavel. Nicely done.

Looks good, Mark. Is that what you use to call family meetings to order now?
