This lamp with clock was made from a piece of wood I found laying in a friends yard. I had picked the piece of wood up and was ‘dreaming’ of what I might could make out of it. My friend said I could have it if I wanted it.
I took it to my little shop (yes, little at 8’ X 16’) and started cleaning it up to see what there was. I simply sanded it down to clean it up, keeping its shape. I cut it off square on the fat end and trimmed off the other end then rounded it off. Using what I had cut off the fat end I made the base for the lamp post. Fastened it together, sanded it some more and applied satin polyurathane. Added the clock and lamp parts and that’s it…a one of kind lamp with clock from a scrap piece of Oak found in a friends yard. The clock and lamp parts are all ‘recycled’ as well.

Very clean lines, it came out great. I like it’s modern feel.

When I first saw this in thumbnail size, I thought it was a metronome. Very creative, Cobbie.

I’m so impressed with the creative thinking behind people’s re-used lumber projects!
Very cool.
