Hey everyone,

Today I fixed the problem with Dust collection and my drill press. I got a new forstner bit (my first one), and i realized that unlike my hole saw and spade bits, it shoots the shavings up and out as opposed to down. I have MANY MANY other things I do that cause immense dust, but the forstner bit made the most and pushed me to build this. I have a build that I made for my drill press spindle sander which you can find in my other projects, but that didn’t cut it for much anything else.

It took me a while to design this (and could have been designed better), but I decided that this was good enough for my shop. I initially made the arm to not include a way to swivel left or right which is the last picture in my list.

I made a video that was before I added the swivel so that it wasn’t as close as I wanted it. That is why i added a swivel to it. It does collect much better since i added the swivel than in the video, but you get the idea. Here is the link to the video.

That’s it. Hope you like it. If not, lie to me. :)

Now that’s an idea only a genus would come up with! I was working on my drill press today and that would have really help. Nicely done!

Kind of reminds me of the old pulley and belt drill system the dentist used on me when I was a kid.. that was about 50 years ago!

Very nice arrangement Matt, and, BTW I’m not lying to you ;-)

Seriously, its much better than my bungy-cord solution.
