Because I live in the boonies, power outages are a constant problem.

To remedy that situation, I created Dynamo Man #1.
He automatically leaps into action at the first sign of trouble, providing both light and a dependable supply of electricity.

As a bonus, he’s more than paid for himself by feeding excess power back into the grid.

Well John, looks like you are on the track of solving global warming problems. If we all had one of these the world would be a cleaner place. The video makes me laugh. When do they go in production?

I’m working on his running mate right now. Vice-Pres will be standing on a pedestal and cranking a small gear.
His arc swing won’t be as great, but he’ll be cranking at twice the speed and in the opposite direction.
Ohhhhh, yeah !!!

If your little man keeps cranking on that, no doubt he’ll lose a pound or two pretty quick. Could you build me a life size one of these ? :-)

Aw, he’s so cute! What causes him to change cranking direction? I like the effects of the different light bulbs. Thanks for sharing, John.

Candy: Good eye. He does reverse direction. Arbitrary reversal, per the manufacturer of the motor, is “by design”. It has something to do with alternating current, and the exact moment he’s switched on. It’s a permanent magnet motor so he starts with whatever plus or minus is fed to him.

I ended up using neither of the light bulbs in the video. I went back to the half-silver bulb that I used with Menacing Octopus. Good down-lighting and it makes the “transformer” look like a Van de Graff generator.
