This Blanket Chest is all hand made from Poplar. It is 40 in wide, 17 in deep, and 18 in high. There are 60 hand cut dovetails on this case. The finish that I haven’t put on yet is going to be 5 coats of Linseed Oil (Tried & True).

I love those hand cut dovetails….... That’s a real talent. Hope you will post pictures again when you get the finish on it.

Great job on the dovetails. They look machine cut. Please be sure to repost after the finish is on.

WOW!! I have been avoiding doing a simple blanket chest similar to this b/c I didn’t have a dovetail jig. You have now shown me that it is possible to complete wonderful dovetails without a jig!! Thanks a lot, and I too would like to see it after it is finished.

Yes it was alot of work but just because I didn’t use cherry or something like that doesn’t mean I should just throw it together. The quality of the work to me is more important then the type of wood.

Fine work, I bet 60 dovetails took a lot of time.

That’s a beatiful chest. Great work on the dovetails.
