I’m still a novice, but one of my first projects is this cherry podium for my son’s church. They were looking for something to replace the 1970’s version they had been using. It has a 2.5×2.5 douglas fir post wrapped in cherry with cherry legs. The top is plywood with solid cherry trim. I sprayed it with a 1 LB cut shellac followed by three coats of lacquer.

I learned a lot while making it and would probably do some things differently if I were starting it over again. It serves their purpose, though, so I suppose it’s a success.

Nicely done. You just never know how many will be reached with that podium. Thanks for sharing.

You did a nice job on this.

Thanks for the comments! I love working in my shop. I just wish I had started earlier in life or found someone who could mentor me a bit. I learn from my mistakes, but I’d like to make fewer of them.
