This box was a derivation of an old Shaker design I saw in a design book. I was looking for varied designs for the band saw and found an old out of print book with some great designs, many of them based on Shaker accessories. I can’t remember the exact name of the book (I’m at work) but the author was Crabb. Worth a look if you can find it.
There really isn’t a front to this box. You can have it face whatever direction you want and it will look and work fine. As usual, Zebrawood can be a little finicky if you don’t take your time with it. It likes to splinter. An antiqued looking brass band pull was added to the top and blends well with the browns, golds and blacks of the wood.
The box is about 8” wide, 4” deep and about 5” tall with the handle. Zebrawood is also very thirsty so it took several coats of poly to get a uniform finish. I flocked below the rabbet line on the interior.
Thanks for taking a look!
