Hard maple and walnut end grain cutting board that I flattened it with a router planing jig. That took longer than I thought it would, but it worked well. It’s a little thin, which I was going for, but then someone told me it might crack. It’s been about 18 mos and it is still in one piece, so I’m grateful for that :)
The other board is a bread serving board I made for a very good and wonderful friend, one of those people who lives to serve others and was so fulfilled and happy to do it. When I made this, we thought she had beat cancer, and this was a celebration gift. Her cancer came back a few months later and she passed away within the year. As I have been (finally) reviewing my photos of past projects, this one made me stop and remember that nothing is certain and life is fragile. I’m so grateful for the time we have here, and for the time I knew her. She was a truly special person. Rest in peace, Sandy.
