Not much to say here :) Modeled after a set of Melissa and Doug blocks I saw at a toy store once. I actually brought a mini combo square and took measurements of the sample blocks. They are all made from hard maple, soft maple and poplar. Finished in a homemade mixture of beeswax and mineral oil that rubs on.

Wow, I can still remember getting a big box of blocks like this when I was about 5. Now, I’m over 70 and still play with wood. Thanks for the flash back.

Awwww, I love that! Makes me feel good about the gift! My son received a big set, too as a thank you for helping me finish them (whine free!)

He’s been turning out some pretty cool buildings with them! I colored some with food dye dissolved in one of three solutions: denatured alcohol (good), water (raised grain, but good), and vodka (because, why not!?)

Reminds me of the blocks I had as a child, 50 some years ago. Thanks for sharing.

-- Chris - Would work, but I'm too busy reading about woodwork.
