A few weeks ago the wife and I purchased a new aluminum cargo trailer. We had a few amenities put on it at the factory; awning, fan, upgraded wheel rims, window, to name a few. Then I brought it home and began to convert it. I started by removing all the interior and insulating it with pink foam insulation. I added lots of wiring, battery, etc.

Now to the woodworking. We camp but don’t really need stoves, showers, sinks etc. Most public campgrounds have good amenities. We cook outside on the picnic table. We needed storage and a bed. We also added a tv with antenna and movie player. Pictured is a captain’s bed a front cabinet/counter, a side cabinet and finished off rear opening. All is made of maple. finished in poly. There are a lot of things I could show you but this is really just a showing of the woodworking done here. Now off on a trip.

Very good job sir! I have seen several conversions over at tiny trailers. Yours looks the equal of the best of them.

We lived and traveled in RV’s for many years all over the US and I have seen so many trailers converted, and I like what you have done. By cooking outside you saved allot or space indoors. Great build

Got back from a circle tour of the west great lakes for a month and am just now looking at LJ page. Very nice work. Have a look at my profile pic and you’ll see my little trailer. I didn’t build it but have done some miner mods on it. If you like to meet up with a small trailer group check out I’m a member of the Illinois group. No dues, just sign up and look for the calendar and show up! Any small trailer and a few others are welcome. I looked and you’d be the Great North Woods chapter. Have fun!

Thanks. We did a tour of western Michigan and the UP. Great trip. I had no idea that Michigan was such a wonderful state to tour in. I had a Little Guy 6 wide before we sold it to do the cargo conversion. good little trailer. My wife wanted something to stand in to get dressed. This fits the bill. New Ford F150 in the works now. Trading in the chevy.

This is really nice and you will get a lot of practical use out of it. Congratulations and happy camping.
