This is my version of the Wood Magazine secret-compartment jewelry box. This is made from maple and bloodwood.

The Wood Magazine plans can be found at: http://www.woodstore.net/plans/gifts/boxes/1601-Secret-compartment-jewelry-box.html or in Issue 157, September 2004, which I was lucky enough to have.

Nice work. I like the contrast of the wood selection.

Very Nice!

Is there a secret catch to access the compartment?

No secret catch – you just lift the box off of the base. I was thinking of adding some rare earth magnets on it so that you needed a bit more effort to separate the two, however, I stuck with the Wood Magazine plans.
