This is a king size murphy bed that was completed in June 2009. It is my Excalibur which are two doors and a couple drawer with fluting down the side. I was concerned with the doors. With the arch there is only so wide you can go, so I had to have the rails and style extended. I didn’t know how the proportions would work, but after everything came together, it turned out nice.
What I really like about the Excalibur is the fluted molding on the side and how the legs are moved to the outside over the molding.
If the king bed wasn’t big enough, it has two 18” bookcases. I also changed this one from 16”deep to 20” and added a flip up headboard shelf.
Here is the video of the project

Nice work! I need to build one of these for my basement office for those occasions when we need an extra guest bed….or maybe for those times that my wife makes me sleep on the couch :)
At the risk of sounding like a know it all, can I suggest some glass shelves for this unit. They would allow that beautiful can lighting that you have installed flow all the way down.

Stilts, she may fold you up in there, be careful.
Thanks for the advice. I need to start letting my customers know that is an option.

Chris,
I just checked out your website. Very impressive business you got going on there. An idea you might be interested in for some of those locker pieces or those score board beds you build might be these benches built out of baseball bats I have seen built by former MLB player Ron Kittle. Check them out at ronkittle dot com.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post info like this. I’m still learning my way around here. As a home builder I’m always thinking of ways to improve my clients experience while up-selling them at the same time. That’s why things like this just come to me.

Stilts, thanks for that info. Those were awsome benches. I like the bases as the seat.
