Just completed this project for my volunteer fire station. 3/4” birch cabinets with adjustable shelves. The upper cabinets are 14” deep. We installed stainless steel counter tops. This should give us plenty of useful storage.

looks great! I like the clean uniform look with those darker grain ‘patches’. do these have any finish on them?

I knew I’d forget something, yes the cabinets are finished with 4 coats of water based, Sherwin Williams poly. Its a little pricey, but it lays very flat with sprayed or brushed and drys exceptionally fast.

yeah, thats what I though – water based… it keeps the birch’s natural lightness – I like that. oil based make Birch a bit too yellowish for my taste (generally speaking).

They are really nice cabinets. Isnt waterbased really nice??

When I saw the title, I knew it had to be in Texas. Having been thru Flatonia a few times I know just where you are. We have to make a sausage run to Luling every so often.

Thanks for posting.

Well done.

But then, anyone that runs around with an old LaFrance as a tool truck knows how to do things right! Lucky dog!
