Here are two rosewood boxes both with a butterfly inlay. the first box is inlaid with a copper butterfly which, in turn, is inlaid with polymer clay (FIMO). In this box, the internal drawer is opened by pressing one of the inlaid MOP hearts. The others are simply inlaid but the key one is a release button. The second box is also inlaid with a copper butterfly, in turn, inlaid with MOP and abalone. The internal drawer is also released by an abalone release button but, in this case, it is not disguised as part of an inlay design

Thank you. Hinges are something we normally go to great lengths to conceal. Feature hinges are certainly a fiddle to make… but they’re a cinch to fit

Very nice.
I really like your innovation and detail work. The thought process in intricate designs can sometimes be as impressive as the final product. I’d say that for me that is the case with your boxes.
Thanks for sharing these wit us.

Beautiful boxes! Love the fact that there is something new to see the longer you look at it without being too busy. very hard to pull off.
