Not a finness project but a big honkin deck. I built it for my sister. Probably the last large build I’ll do. At 60 years old this lumber was getting heavy especially over head at about seven feet.

Pressure treated lumber, 24’ x 16’ with two staircases. 40” cement in the ground. I think I need a vacation….

Great looking deck your built. I also am getting ready to start a couple decks for our new house. Really looking forward to it…with some help of course.

Great looking deck and you sure look like you know what you’re doing.. I’ve got to replace our back deck and at 69….my two 40 year old son in law builders better show up when I start.

WOW, that is one impressive, well-built structure to be made by a man of any age.
65 next month and the clock is ticking.
But I think woodworking helps to keep us fit, healthy and (relatively) sound of mind.

I agree. Always something to plan and think about. Good for the head. Then out and about moving around each day. The difference from as little as five years ago is mostly stamina. After about 5 hrs each day working at it I’ve had enough. A few years ago the sun going down would mostly determine quitting time. Of course I happen to put it together during the hottest time of the summer; high 80’s and 90’s in humidity. Maine’s getting steadily hotter summers and we’ve gained at least a month longer of summer over the past few years. But winters, albiet shorter are colder and snowier.
