These are fire rated doors (purchased) that I veneered with fire killed pine to match the three distinctive design styles in a house I am just finishing up. I selectively resawed the veneers for character and used a vacuum bag to pull everything together. The 3 dimensional carving and distress was very tricky. Pic #4 is of door #46 installed (previous post).

Some of that looks like enormous maple ray fleck. Did you add that, or was it part of the selective resawing effort?
I love the hand-carved knots in the darker wood.

Thanks for the comments . The overall look is a combination of distress on vertical grain , so yes Gary it is both-

WOW You covered metal doors with wood? They look great! To give them rise over the exisiting door features must have been really a head scratcher! Good work Rob!
