Here is a juniper coffee table base which was custom made for a customer in The Netherlands. His original plan was to put a rock fossil top on it, but when he recieved the table he decided it was too beautiful to cover it up and added a glass top.
The first three pictures are pictures that we took here and the last three pictures are the tables in his home.
This table is around 17” tall, we finished it with 3 coats of satin polycrylic.
Very fun!

You guys do know that those of us who lived out west before we were smart enough to go looking for pieces of juniper like this hate those that still live there and make stuff like this, don’t you. I know, envy ain’t nice. I really am always inspired when you guys post. If it looks that good in a picture, I know I would just stand and look for hours if I could see one of them for real. Incredible.

hootr – we first start out by getting a measuring tape and measuring from the floor up the approximate height of the table, we mark all the way around the base. Then my husband uses his chainsaw to cut along our mark, I stand by and make sure that he stays lined up and does not cut at an angle.
Then with a hand grinder and level he takes it down until he gets sitting level.
bamasawduster – it is funny to hear how other people have view the juniper tree, well it is a shrub actually. I use to always think it was ugly, used too much water and not much good for anything except burning. We are very fortunate to do what we do, and we started out when we saw someone elses work, so envy is a good thing becuase i think it is avery motivational and inspirational if you use it in a postive way. Thanks again and happy woodworking
