Just a project to use up some thin blanks. Figuring out what was going to be the finish as I went along.
Photos 4,5 and 6 show the inside and outside of the turned blanks and of them joined to see if I had the right fit. I then glued and clamped them From there I cut a level piece off the top and bottom with the table saw, drilled hole in top and shaped some red gum as a feature. The stand is also red gum shaped on the lathe. The recess piece for holding in the chuck was carved as roses which and used the wood burner to do the shading. Finished with a coat of clear polyurethane.
