I belong to a Love Spoon Exchange through Carvers Companion online magazine at www.carverscompanion.com/. This is my second year of membership. My 2009 group has six members, and we carve and exchange a spoon every two months. I have to admit the spoons I get back are better than mine, since I’m the newbie. If you have interest, check out the forums, exchanges, and tutorials free on Carvers Companion. If there’s any interest, I can post some pictures of the spoons I have received.

Enjoyed your post Jim. Your creative designs are new to me and very refreshing. I see a lot of carved spoons here in Norway by incredibly skilled carvers, but their designs are pretty much in Acanthus style which are beautiful but not terribly original. I especially liked the first spoon, but thought they were all very artistic. Thanks for posting these.

Hi Jim,
I think that is a fun idea, I would be interested in joining your group. I do my best at spoons and find them a joy to carve and even more fun to see the persons face receiving them.
Your spoons are very nice. I like your ideas and designs on them.
Thanks for the post,

It’s free. Just go to http://carverscompanion.com/W3E_Spoon.html for all the details. Fill out the application, and join one of the lists. (there’s no mailings or spam). Matt Kelly will contact you when he gets another group going. Look the site over, for it is a veritable gold mine of information. There’s a lot of tutorials from the experts.
Have fun! Your spoons are gorgeous!
Jim

I doubt what you say about the spoons you receive being better than. These are really good looking spoons and you can send me one any ole time. Forget about me making an exchange tho, without a bandsaw it takes me to dang long to carve one. <grin> But I am sure that the fella on the other end is saying he got the best of the trade.

Have your say...
