Made this article to celebrate 55 years of married life I have named the piece HEARTS ENTWINED. It is made from a single piece of Yew about 17mm thick marked out and fret cut to shape. After fret cutting the centre where the hearts meet is carefully carved back and then finally separated the separation took about 2 hours to complete. Once that work was done it was down to cleaning up working down to a 400 grit paper. the twined hearts were then drilled for a 5mm dowel ready for mounting on the heart shaped separate base that was also drilled to accept the dowels, the assembly then glued together with PVA. After a final cleaning up the piece was coated with a Melamine sander/sealer, rubbed down with a fine paper and sprayed with a Melamine spray

What a lovely way to mark your 55 year anniversary Bill. I really like the way you’ve shaped the hearts. It adds a lot of interest. Very nicely done.
