This was the first time I had done a piece with and carving detail at all, but it won’t be the last. The diamond shapes were made by first routing out what waste I could with a trim router and cleaning things up with an assortment of chisels. The routed part was then hammered out with a tool I made from an old hinge pin. (Thanks for the idea T-Chisel). It was a ton of fun but I will say that the ‘carving’ part took the better part of 3 days to complete but it seemed much longer. I attached the aprons to the legs with sliding dovetails. The finish is Hydrocote Lacquer which I sprayed on with an hvlp sprayer.

A very nice looking table! The clean lines accented with your carved diamonds is excellant!

The detailing really makes the table special. It should be an heirloom for someone.
