Had some time this weekend for the first time in a while to play with some wood. I had bought several burls from Kris Grandlundup in Upper Peninsula, MI granlund3@yahoo.com This is the smallest one, so I tackled it first. The grain turned out to be really awesome and I can’t wait until I have some more time to work on some of the larger burls. I recently ordered some more from him and they are due this week. He has access to several types of burls and is really reasonable.

That’s the only way to really carve a bowl, just like catching a wabbit. Unique up on it :-)

Nice looking bowl and the grain is beautiful. What did you use to carve it out?

Used Lancelot on angle grinder and Arbotech mini-grinder for roughing, followed by Kutzall burrs, then new wave sanding discs, finishing with Beale buffs. Have to give kudos to Michael Harvey, AKA RusticElements. He headed me down that path several moons ago. Sure makes bowl carving easier. Thanks for all the inputs.

Beautiful, I use the lancelot and arbotech, they work great to gnaw through wood.
