Welcome back, John! This is a great lamp (hardly menacing, though). How big is it?
:)
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Candy. Glad to be back!
Did you watch the video? It scares me. :)
Every time I make one of my lamps, I'm going for a smaller footprint. Menacing Octopus is 5"x5".

That is very clever, well done. I think it needs some big googly eyes.

Welcome back and well done. That should keep the kids from getting up at night. Who would want to face that monster in the dark ;-)

I'm not sure if you have more fun building or filming. Either way. I love it.

Maybe he should be called The Hypno Octo. After watching the video I have vertigo. A pair of eyes would really bring him to life. John, as always, your projects are a visual delight.

I never would have imagined it that small, John! Yes, of course, I watched the video. It has an Outer Limits vibe to it. Do not adjust the dial… :-D

John, forgot to ask if the plans for this project have been or are scheduled to be published in any magazine (or other media)?

I'd almost forgotten how many amazing friends I have on LumberJocks. Thanks to everyone for your support!

Yes, making the videos has become as much fun as making the projects. Like woodworking, it's an outlet for another kind of creativity. I'm starting to think that I make this stuff solely for the purpose of making the next video. :)

I want to get plans for my projects out there, but the biggest decision for me is how I want to do it. Publishing in a magazine is often an agonizing process, print books (unfortunately) are becoming dinosaurs, so online self-publishing is probably the only way to go.

Bottom line: My resolution for 2016 is to respond to the request for plans without relying on the schedule/whims of a magazine editor.
