Haven’t posted in a while but have been busy in the shop.

A few weeks ago I was approached by the local Children’s Museum about building a wooden airport for their big play table.

with the average age in the 3-6 yr old range I wanted simple, durable and would challenge imaginations. To that end the control tower and runway are puzzles that have to be assembled correctly to fit right. The control tower is 6 pieces and the runway is 8. The planes are glued and pinned so there are no parts that can come off, and are colored with food coloring. Everything except the 1” dowel in the tower is birch, finish is 3 coats of shellac.

Thanks for looking.

Now that’s clever, compact and yet full of imagination for the children to have hours of fun flying around….
