My second, third and fourth attempts at bowls/vases. The first is my latest attempt at being creative. The bottom is Cherry, the center neck is camelthorn, which is an awesome grained wood, and the spire is ebony. I still have yet to get the right tools, so it’s not really a “hollow vessel” per se, but it does have a cavity inside which is as deep as I could get it. It stands about 11” tall, about 7” wide. The fourth picture shows it and my second bowl which is made of birdseye spalted maple and I was quite surprised when it didn’t crack like the first bowl I tried. The last object is I guess a vase of birdseye spalted maple. These were turned on a Shop Fox 1752 10” lathe with a set of 6 medium sized Benjamins Best tools…which really need to be sharpened.
