Here are a couple of pictures of my first hand plane I have made. I saw David Marks make one on the DIY channel and was intrigued. So here is what came out since then I have made another one out of Oak which I really like the first was out of Purple Heart. The only problem was the stock was still wet and I didn’t let it dry out before I made it so it cracked in a couple of spots but it was an awesome project to start off with and learn from.

Welcome to Lumberjocks!
I had that project a few weeks ago, I ordered the blade and plans, but was not very convinced with that type of iron…..looks like the whole useful life of that blade are those 3/4” than stick outh of the plane. But I’m sure the plane works great. Good job!

I didn’t have actual plans I went off what David had online from the show and bought the blade at Woodcraft. Your right the life span isn’t long but I have it more for heirloom and to say I made one then anything else.
