My daughter’s godfather ordered a Papal Blessing for her baptism. It’s a really cool certificate, so I built this frame to display it. It’s made from scrap cedar and paduak. The pictures show some progress shots. My idea was to spray paint the thing with a metallic gold paint, and then sand away the paint off the top surface to let the red paduak show through. I’m pleased with how it turned out; I think the frame’s colors complement the Papal Blessing very well.

Beautiful frame, very unique detail are those squares.

Very nice – make sure you have a good UV protectant clearcoat – - as the red padauk will turn brown with age.

The coating won’t stop it… but definitely slow the process.
