Seeing Bill Judt’s project reminded me of this Headboard I made at our Lake Cabin. The sailboat in the middle is from a pattern in one of his books. The other two carvings are created from newspaper clippings.
I started out with a piece of 1” X 12” Pine. I sawed the curve close to the centerline of the board. Then I ripped, & jointed the edges then glued them. This method creates two curves running parallel to each other with the affect that its made from one wide board.

Beautiful carvings Dick, I have carving envy. By the way I was just wallowing through the hundreds of pictures of turnings on the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF WOODTURNERS and came across a very neat candy dish made by a man named Dick Cain, might that be you. It certainly was unique and really stood out from the other bowls and turnings. Just curious. Post it here if you have’nt already. jockmike2

Shuffled this sweet piece of woodworking today and couldn’t help but bring it to the front of the pulse line for the many newbies on the site. Amazing work Dick. Am so glad I saw this. Your talent is truely inspiring.
