These are the first two completed projects in my quest for 30 projects in 30 days.
The first is a wheelbarrow planter. It’s made from pine and other than a few coats of sprayed on shellac is unfinished. I’ve made a few of these recently and the Mrs. thinks they’re pretty spiffy.
The second is a special box for the wife of my lumber supplier. As he goes through his wood pile he has been known to set aside boards he thinks I should have. So, in return for some of these board his wife asked for a box. The box is made of cherry with a walnut base. The top is my first attempt at veneer using some really nice stuff that Tearen passed out a the Michigan LumberJock Picnic. I don’t remember what it is, but it’s really nice. The box is 6×10 and 3.5 inches deep.

Nice Projects!
Nothing like making points with the wife of your lumber supplier!! Looks like she should really like the box.

very nice of them to set aside some great lumber for you. Great projects, and awesome start to the month. I feel like I need to step up my game now…. hmmm, what to do…

My lumber guy, Dennis Duncan, is a great guy. He has been a real encouragement to me; finding types of wood I’ve not used before and saying, “You need to try this”. He’s become a very good friend.
And Scott, your last effort was quite motivating and I’m glad you’re doing again. Heaven knows I could use a little discipline in getting things done.

I found a clock kit in my shop that I bought about a year ago… may have to take advantage of that in this 30-in-30 challenge.
and we do owe all of this to scott! thanks for stepping up Mr Man!

Great use of that veneer Russel. I think that is either the curly maple or curly sycamore. If you want any more for other boxes just let me know what you need. It would give me a reason to take a trip and see your shop!
