Project Information

After taking so long on the bookcase I felt like I needed to tackle some projects that could be completed quickly. Sometimes I find that I need that feeling of accomplishment and long projects end up getting a little frustrating. Therefore my wife (fiance at the time) bought me a mini-lathe for my 30th birthday and I got into turning pens and bottle stoppers. For out wedding favors I made over 200 bottle stoppers. I had a trophy shop make some 1 1/4" medallions with our name and wedding date that I recessed in the top and then filled with epoxy. That was a huge project….

Where do you purchase your stoppers from? Great idea regarding the wedding! Very nice work.

When I first started I got them from PSI but I noticed the chrome flakes off quickly with the acid from the wine. I now buy them from Craft Supplies USA and use the stainless steel ones (although I don't think I have made any with that yet).
