Hollow form turned from a piece of sugar maple. Piece is 8 inches high, 6 inches across at the widest point and the hollow form opening is 1/2” in diameter. Finish is 5 coats of high gloss Waterlox that was hand rubbed in. I let each coat dry overnight, sanding in between coats with 1500 grit paper. I made a couple of 3/8” diameter tools to enable me to turn this piece with a very narrow opening. Comments and critiques are always welcome.

Absolutely beautiful. Looks like a Chinese ceramic piece. And I know. I work at an art museum. I congratulate you on this outstanding shape.

Another great piece. Love that design and finish. Can you give us more info on the tools you made?

To see some of the tools that I have made you can to to a project which I posted here:
http://lumberjocks.com/projects/12754
Next tool I make I will go a step by step blog series. None of the tools that I make are rocket science and most are made with readily available materials and equipment. I use cold rolled steel rods and drill rod that I purchase from Enco tools, cutters I purchase from either Grizzly, Hunter tools or Easy Wood Tools.
