This is a project I had been planning on building for myself for several months but only just got around to building.

The bed is built from blackbutt, a local Western Australian timber that I cut, milled and dried myself, and its all put together using loose mortise and tenon joinery. (dominoes)

The design was very much a “make it up as I go” type of thing and I am very happy with the way it turned out.

If you want to know more about the build, and see how I went about it please view my build process video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsQP2dQUOvw

Thanks for checking it out!

I like this ‘look’. Also the YouTube video was well done. Interesting about how you designed as you went and yet the results looked well thought out! Nice job!

Looks real nice. One question… Over time, wont the mattress tend to have a dip in the middle?

Just liked this on my Facebook page and forgot you were on here too. I really like the headboard and posts. Another great project mate! Keep them coming and I always enjoy the videos too.

I added a block under the middle slat support to hopefully stop this.

It is shown in the video if you want to see more.
