May this box for my nephew who was visiting us.

Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba?) – planned down to about an inch thick. Dovetailed the sides and dadoed the bottom. Used a nice piece of walnut plywood for the base (can’t see it – but it looked great – thanks Brian).

For the top I used loose tenons and laminated a few pieces and used some curly maple to breadboard the top.

Heavy handles worked great on this as it’s really heavy even without tackle.

I don’t think this will make it to a boat – likely stay in his room.

Danish oil finish.

Good looking box. It would be a shame to see it ruined by water.
