Here is the second marking Knife I have made. This one is for my daughter, Scrappys Squirt
Thanks for the sugestion Stefeng I think it will be more versatile this way. The angle on both sides will allow it to be used right or left handed.
Another GoodWill Knife, This time I took the old handle off without destroying the rivets. Cut down the length and reused rivets.
The last knife was only hardened from the end of the handle out. This knife had a full tang blade ( the blade body goes all the way thru the handle), and it is hardened the entire length of steel. It was a bear to cut down to size and shape, but I beleive it will last a lot longer.
Handle is Walnut Pallet Wood
No finnish yet. Probably put on hand wipe poly.
Thanks for looking.

Looks good. I cut down one of my wife’s kitchen knives years ago to use for carving, but I left the plastic handle in place. The handle had split due to the extreme vibration of cutting it with a jigsaw so I just wrapped some green duct tape around the end of the handle and have been using it that way, so of course yours look way better in comparison. The knife is in the lower right corner of the picture here, just after I finished stopcutting the carving with the knife. There is nothing better than making your own tools to suit your needs from something you already have on hand. Now that I’ve seen your knives, I’m inclined to make a wooden handle for mine I think.

Looks great scrappy You didn’t waste any time! Sometimes I think it’s more fun to make tools than anything else.
